BRUNO FREREJEAN
For his ‘Chronicle of a Lockdown during Coronavirus Times’, Bruno Frerejean (France, 1953) put himself in front of the lens in order to document his emotions during a period of a nearly two months of self-isolation. In an effort to get distracted from the chaos and confusion created by the speculating news, and inspired by Sartre’s famous quote «Hell is other people», the photographer took a series of black and white self-portraits in double exposure. Enhanced by wide-angle compositions, these images represent the feeling of confinement and the coexistence with his other self. And so, the artist raises a question: what are the limits of fiction?
En su ‘Crónica pictórica del encierro en tiempos de coronavirus’, Bruno Frerejean (Francia, 1953) se puso delante del objetivo para dejar constancia de las emociones que habitaron en él durante los casi dos meses de confinamiento solitario. Con tal de no caer en la vorágine de las noticias y las especulaciones, el fotógrafo se inspiró en la famosa cita “el infierno son los otros” de Sartre y tomó una serie de autorretratos en blanco y negro en doble exposición que, junto con las composiciones de gran angular, subrayan la sensación de encierro y de convivencia con su otro yo. Así, el propio artista nos invita a preguntarnos: ¿hasta dónde llega la ficción?
