Barbara H. Weil 2023 Award

Studio Weil was inaugurated by the American artist Barbara Weil in Puerto de Andratx, Mallorca, in a building designed by Daniel Libeskind, not only to house her work but so that in the future other artists would have the opportunity to be part of her legacy.

For this reason, the Weil Art Exchange initiative was created.  

The Weil Art Exchange (WAE)  is a non-profit organization that has the mission of creating an international cultural exchange among artists. One of the goals is to legitimize and publicize female artists from the Balearic Islands as per Barbara Weil’s wishes to use the Studio Weil gallery space to exhibit other artists' work.   To achieve this, in 2021 we launched the first Barbara H. Weil Prize for Artists from the Balearic Islands. The objective was to give visibility to artists by soliciting proposals from artists in contact with the islands in order to disseminate, promote and encourage contemporary artistic quality in the Balearic Islands.
